Midland Credit Control celebrates quarter century of business
Following its foundation in 1992 by Birmingham native Heather Lee, white label credit control company Midland Credit Control is celebrating 25 years of success with the launch of a new subscription service.

Heather, who is from Edgbaston, started the company in April 1992 and was joined by co-director Tony Kyffin 6 years ago. They’re determined to see the business grow further while still maintaining the quality of service that companies in the construction, manufacturing, engineering and catering sectors have come to expect.
With that growth in mind, the team are launching a new subscription service in April 2018 in addition to their outsourced credit control facility. This will offer four levels of access to their credit control service to companies that are just starting out, up to companies with a turnover of just under £1 million a year.
“Credit control is so much more than just managing a company’s sales ledger and making sure their cash flow is fluid,” explains Heather. “It’s equally about building and maintaining relationships with customers – being empathic, tempering things in just the right way, and knowing what services might help them in future. Nowadays, we’re just as expert in communications as we are credit control.”
Over the 25 years Heather has been in business, technology and ways of working have changed dramatically. That’s allowed her and Tony more autonomy and freedom in the way their company works. For example, Midland Credit Control increasingly does business with clients all over the UK, whose IT systems can now be accessed remotely. That means a larger client base – one that Heather and Tony intends to grow.
Heather says: “We have realised that a lot of SMEs – especially those that are just starting out – may not have the knowledge or time to devote to their sales ledger, or may feel that they could ruin a relationship with their client by chasing payment. We can help with all of that and we are offering different levels of access to our services based on the size of the company and what we think they may need. There are four different price plans, payable monthly so our services become affordable for even the smallest of companies.
“We feel that 25 years is something to celebrate and so over the course of the year we will be announcing special offers for new clients and introducing certain things for people to access that will add value to what they do.”
